Khawla Hammami is a public law student at the Faculty of legal, political, and social sciences of Tunis.

She joined the INTERFERENCE community in 2018 where she worked in the GRAV studio as an art mediator.  She’s now part of the Curatorial community of INTERFERENCE 2020.

Curatorial statement :

“Choosing the curatorial for me was more of a challenge because, as a law student, I never got the chance to open up to anything relevant to the arts and to this creative community, and thanks to INTERFERENCE and the curatorial collective, I finally got the chance not only to learn new stuff but also to get out of my comfort zone because I’m working on something totally ‘out of my league’

I also think that being a curator gives me the ability to connect directly with artists so that I can do my utmost to understand their views in order to create meaningful and unique exhibitions relevant to the whole theme and purpose of the festival in order to improve INTERFERENCE ‘s authentic and unique aspect.

It is also important for me to add that being part of the festival is a great opportunity to make a real contribution to society and also a chance to change the cynical attitudes of other people about anything related to the arts and to prove to them that “Art is really a tool for social change.” Since chosen artworks are mostly up-to-date on world issues, and that’s one of the things that makes “the curatorial” unique because we strive to build a certain link between the artwork and the audience, who are forced not just into critical thought, but also into conversations and debates about the artwork.”
