Imen Cherif is an orthoptist based in Tunis.
Cultural heritage was one of her first guiding interests. In 2016 she launched with a local collective a social movement called IjouGdena promoting alternative and cultural tourism in her hometown Djerba, creating parcours and guiding tours in order to discover the island from a different perspective, which was hidden and misknown to the public.
In 2017 she worked as an art mediator and artist accomplice in the first edition of SEE DJERBA and has been introduced to curatorship in the second edition of the same project, in 2019, co-curating the HOROPTER Studio with Ons Kamoun.
This experience allowed her to get closer to the cultural and artistic scene, to which she is contributing with her background as an orthoptist by adding her knowledge about eyes and visual experiences. Thus, creating a link between art and the way the human brain can perceive and assimilate images.
